Advanced Technology and Techniques

The past few decades has seen a rapid advancement in the technology and techniques used in the restoration industry. These advancements allow SERVPRO of New Smyrna Beach-Titusville Professionals to restore a property back to pre loss condition quickly, reliably, and more effectively.

Moisture Detection and Measurement Equipment

Scientific drying principles rely upon specialized equipment to detect, measure, and monitor a property’s moisture levels. Recent advances, like infrared cameras, can help us detect water through a wall, ceiling, or floor. After a flood or a leak occurs in your Edgewater home, it is essential that you act quickly to reduce the chance of secondary water damage. SERVPRO understands having the right equipment makes a measurable difference in reducing claims loss expense.

Water Extraction Equipment

The most effective method of removing moisture from a structure is extraction. This is why it is critical to respond quickly to water damage and to provide emergency mitigation services. We have truck mounted and portable extraction units that pump out hundreds of gallons of water from your Sharpes home or business.

Drying Equipment

Industrial strength air movers and dehumidifiers are needed to remove the remaining moisture from ceiling, walls, and floors of your home or business. Proper drying helps to prevent swelling and warping of floors, walls, and furniture. Our crews will come to monitor the affected area daily, documenting moisture levels to ensure a quick dry time.

Odor Removal and Deodorization

Water and fire damage often causes powerful odors. These smells can come from wet carpet, soot along walls after a house fire, and standing sewage after a pipe burst. The machines we use remove airborne contaminants and control the air quality during the restoration and cleanup process. SERVPRO does not mask a smell, we use Ultra Low Volume foggers and Thermal Foggers to neutralize odor causing particles.

SERVPRO of New Smyrna Beach crew chief leading our team in safety training Safety first! We go over different safety topics every week with our staff, this week covering proper ladder safety!

At SERVPRO of New Smyrna Beach- Titusville, we not only strive to provide the best possible experience for our customers when it comes to service, quality of work, and safety practices, but we want to create the same environment for our employees as well. That is why every Friday, we bring our whole team together to participate in safety training.

Our weekly safety training covers a wide range of topics from wearing proper protective gear when working in hazardous conditions and property testing PPE to ensure a proper fit, to heat safety and driving safety. We like to focus our weekly topics on what we currently have going on throughout projects, or potential hazards that could be on a job site we are actively working. This week our safety was on ladder safety, led by our restoration crew chief, Ken.

Ken went over proper ladder use by maintaining points of contact, what parts of the ladder are safe to stand on, weight restrictions, and signs to look for that could indicate that the ladder is unsafe for use. We encourage our team to get involved, ask questions or go over scenarios that could help in future situations.

Local Providers

3/29/2022 (Permalink)

In today market there are ten or more different businesses for everything you need such as remediation or reconstruction. Why should you chose SERVPRO rather than another company around you? What makes us so different from the competition?

SERVPRO is locally owned and operated. This means each franchise is owned by someone local to your community. Our kids go to the same schools, and we eat at the same restaurants . We love to put money back into our community and help our neighbors whenever they are in trouble.

What Sets Us Appart?

3/21/2022 (Permalink)

When most people think of the bright green and orange logo that stands for SERVPRO they think of a major corporation rather than your neighbor or a small locally owned business. While we are a part of that large umbrella of SERVPRO we are also your neighbor next door, a local business owner, and friend in the community.

Our business is owner and operated by someone in your community. He is present in many local events such as chambers, ribbon cuttings, and school sports!

Being local in the community means we care about our neighbors, our schools, and events that are happening in our neighborhood!

With all of this being said we also fall under the big SERVPRO umbrella that gives us more resources than a locally owned small business as well.

When a storm is set to hit our area or an area around us other small business franchise owners come down to help us and our local community recover quicker, brining their resources with them so we can help everyone possible. These other franchises coming down means you will get the best possible service because they are all trained at the high level required by SERVPRO to be a technician with our business.

So when you need us most, whether is be for a duct cleaning or a major disaster we are here ready to serve you.

"Like it never even happened."

Here When You Need Us

6/18/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is locally owned and operated within each franchise. Our friendly office staff, technicians, marketers, and owner are attending the same events and shopping at the same stores as you.

We love to see our clients out in public and always answer any questions when we can.

The friendly faces of our company represent our services and how we take care of your home when an emergency happens.

We are always available to look at any concerns with your home and have a flexible schedule.

We are open 24/7 for emergencies and a live person is always going to answer the phone that works directly for our office. This allows us to get our team out to you as fast as possible to minimize the damage to your home. Our staff is always able to help and answer questions you may have in your time of need.

Always keep us in mind for the time you need us so we can make it  "Like it never even happened."

Fire Awareness

6/18/2021 (Permalink)

While in the thick of the storm season we are thinking about rain and cleaning out our gutters and swells but we also need to think about this inside of our home and preventing fires there as well. Here is the list with 5 measures you should be taking annually.

1. Test your smoke alarms regularly

While not all of us are wonderful cooks and may test the alarms out more frequently than every year it is still something that needs to be done.

2. Inspect all of your heating sources

If your units are not working properly it can quickly cause an issue of smoke or fire in your home. You can do this yourself or have a professional come take a look for you.

3. Keep your stove and oven clean

Some of us neat freaks make sure to clean to stove a few times a week or after ever use but that is not always the case. The oven is a bit more tricky. Some ovens have a self cleaning setting you can use or you might have to get in there and put some elbow grease into it.

4.Don't leave you kitchen

If you are cooking food or have an appliance plugged in do not walk away. This is when a spontaneous fire normally happens.

5. Always check your dryer

Make sure the clean out the lint trap after every use as well as have your dryer vent cleaned every year. We often forget this but it is one of the biggest hazards in the home.

Always Available!

4/15/2021 (Permalink)

At your local SERVPRO we are here to help in any situation. We are always available to set up an estimate to come onsite and look or by phone if you just have a question.

This time of year is great to get your ducts and carpets cleaned or take care of that pesky growth problem you have.

All of our knowledgeable staff at SERVPRO are available to answer any questions, get you set up with an estimate appointment, or get you on the schedule for a direct cleaning. They are happy to answer any questions or give any kind of in-depth detail you may need about a service we provide.

Our Sales Representative is always out and about in the community and is happy to answer any questions or look at any areas of concern you may have as well.

Our locally own franchises are always available by phone 24/7 for that middle of the night emergency. The person you will talk to is someone who works in our local office and will always be able to help.

"Like it never even happened."

Helping Everyone

4/14/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is known for having a large travel team, which consists of smaller franchises who come from across the country to wherever help is needed.

We at your local SERVPRO participate in that as well. Having a travel team when a catastrophe hits means a lot more behind the scenes work as well for those that stay at home. Our office staff and other technicians have to make sure our guys on the road are taken care of as well as our customers at home base are taken care of as well. We have a balancing act going on during these times, which we are more than capable of handling.

Throughout the year our technicians undergo strenuous training to make sure they are prepared when the time comes. When our team is onsite we make sure we stay as long as we are needed and help every customer possible.

This process is hard on our team as we never know how long our guys will be gone. Rest assured however, we do not leave until we have helped everyone we possibly can and make it "Like it never even happened."

In Your Community

3/25/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO is part of your community. Our staff and owner are always taking part in local events that our neighbors and local businesses are participating in.

We love to do all of the same things you and your family like to do. While New Smyrna hasn't had too many events that we have been able to participate in lately we cannot wait until they are back.

Here at SERVPRO we are always here for you, whether that be in an emergency or seeing you at a local event. We participate as much as we can to stay involved in our community.

We like to also participate in local charity events but that has been slightly hard with the restrictions of COVID. When we are able to come out into the community and help with those kinds of things we will be there. We cannot wait to see everyone back out in the community and participate in local events and charities.

Why chose us?

3/23/2021 (Permalink)

Why should you chose our company over the competitors? There are many choices out there for every situation today. However not all companies or services are created equal. Some companies put their staff first, some companies put their business first, and some companies put their customers and employees. first.

We are the last of the three. We put our customers and employees first. SERVPRO believes that by treating our employees the right way and giving them the tools and praise that they deserve that they can offer the best service to our customers.

We put our customers first as well. Without our customers we would not have a business or a community. We are grateful for each and every customer we are able to prove services to.

SERVPRO goes above and beyond for their staff and customers to make sure each and everyone is taken care of how they should be. We respect and appreciate everything they all do.

Add sanitizing measures to your daily cleaning routine

Cleaning and disinfecting has never been more important than right now during this time of concern. Whether it be at home or an essential business it is important to minimize the chance of germs being passed between one individual and another.

SERVPRO is here to help in anyway possible. We are taking measures within our office to minimize the foot traffic, keep a six foot distance between individuals and clean surfaces everyday.

Here at SERVPRO we have the capability to properly clean and sanitize to the CDC standards in both the home and business if a confirmed case were to come about. We also do preventative cleanings with the same standards to prevent any possibility if a customer, patron or previous homeowner could have had it.

To properly clean and disinfect at home follow these guideline provided by the CDC.

Wear disposable gloves to clean and disinfect all areas. Use soap and water to clean highly used areas such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, counter tops, keyboards, sinks, etc.

Disinfect all ares with a diluted household bleach solution per manufacturer's instructions and leave solution on surface for at least 1 minute.

For soft surfaces use soap and water or cleaners appropriate for the surface. If possible launder appropriately.

Electronics such as tablets, phones, and remote controls put a wipeable cover on electronics or used alcohol-base wipes or sprays with atleast 70% alcohol.

During this scary and unknowing time it is important to practice social distancing, proper cleaning routines, and call SERVPRO to come and help deeply disinfect areas of concern.

Stay safe and healthy while we all work together through this time.

Best Practices

3/26/2020 (Permalink)

How can you be best prepared for COVID-19 in here home? We want you to be the most prepared you can in this time of uncertainty. Below we have put together some best practices according to the CDC’s guidelines.

Get together a plan for your home. Started out with talking to everyone that lives in your home and consider who is at the greatest risk. Get to know your neighbors and community. Make sure to create an emergency list of resources, include family, friends, resources such as SERVPRO and healthcare providers.

One of the most important steps is to practice and maintain good personal hygiene and cleaning habits for your home. Stay away from those who are sick. If you are sick, stay home, cough or sneeze into your elbow and always wash your hands thoroughly. Continually sanitize and clean your home, unfortunately this also includes laundry as well.

Take time to prepare if your child’s school or daycare close. Know your rights, whether that is working from home or bringing your children with you.

These are some of the most important tips to take in during this time. If you have any questions, concerns or cleaning and emergency needs, please feel free to reach out to us.

Tented Tile

4/17/2019 (Permalink)

There are several myths in the industry that tile floor does not absorb water and can be dried out without any after effects. The truth is that both the slab and the tile may absorb water. If not properly dried out weeks or even months down the line a tenting affect may take place in the tile. This is where the tile dries out and expands or contracts and forms a tent. The slab will shrink back down to the original size, however the tile will not shrink but rather stay the same size which could be what causing the tenting effect. There are many other factors that can come into play such as what the tile is made of, what temperate the tile was fired at, the amount of time the tile was fired, and whether the tile was glazed or not. All of this comes into play and will be tale tell signs if the tile will tent or not.

Allergy-Proof Your Home

4/3/2019 (Permalink)

If you have hay fever or allergic asthma symptoms throughout the year, take a few steps to reduce allergens in your home.  Here are some suggestions: Bed and Bedding:  Encase pillows, mattresses and box springs in dust-mite-proof covers. Flooring:  Remove carpeting and use hardwood or linoleum flooring and washable area rugs. Curtains/Blinds:  Use washable curtains and replace horizontal blinds with washable roller-type shades. Windows:  Close windows and rely on air conditioning during pollen season. Furnishings:  Avoid upholstered furniture. What to do before leaving for Vacation

3/26/2019 (Permalink)

Everyone is always so excited to go on vacation that they often miss important items that need to be done around the house that can better prepare against issues while gone. It can be very helpful to have someone check-in on the house a few times while you are on vacation to check the mail and make sure your house does not flood but there may be more you can do. A house sitter may not always know where important valves are or who you would want to contact in case of an emergency if you do not already have that information set out for them.

The first big thing to do to protect your home before leaving is going to shutting off the main water supply to the home. This will protect against flooding or a sudden link in your home.

The next thing may not apply to everyones home but it is important to those it pertains to. The sump pump. You need to check it and make sure it is not close to full or there are not any other rainwater near it as it can wuickly become an issue.

In many places it will be one of the extremes, either very hot or very cold. In Florida it will normally be very hot. You will want to turn your thermostat up but do not turn the A/C off as that is what is going to protect your home against possible growth as best it can. If it is somewhere cold you will want to turn the heat down but not off as that will help protect against freezing pipe, not prevent though.

To keep flowers alive you will want to have your house sitter come bay and water them or use a mechanism that slowly released water throughout the time you are gone to continue to give them water.

Other things to include would be unplugging electronics to prevent against surges, fires, and lower your electric bill while away. You will also want to light rooms with timers to help prevent against burglars and they will think you are home.

These are just a few quick ways to protect your home while away.

Why you should clean your air ducts

3/26/2019 (Permalink)

The air ducts in your home carry air throughout your home to circulate and bring in cool and warm air depending on the time of year and which system is on. With these ducts carrying air throughout everyday it will pick up a number of different items and sometimes they will get stuck or blocked. Dust will also get built up in there as time goes on. Here are some of the top reasons you need to get your air ducts cleaning once a year. The first reason and one of the most common is pets. Pets with dander and that shed often get that hair into the ducts and get stuck in the air handler making it work harder and possibly cause a hazard the your home if let go to long. This leads to the next item, allergies and asthma, pet hair can lead to this but can also lead to worsening allergies and athsma due to the build up. If your ducts and vents are full of pet hair and pollen and dusk it can make your allergies significantly worse. Next on th list is cigarette or cigar smoke. You should not smoke in your home due to the fire hazard but if someone in the past has smoked in the home, cleaning the ducts can lessen the smell but may not completely get rid of it. Up next on the list is water contamination or damage to the home. If there is a water loss affecting the ducts or the HVAC system it should be cleaned to ensure and affected water has been removed and sanitize the area it affected. Finally for the last item on the list is any home remodeling. When remodeling paint fumes, and tile dusk, all sorts of things can get into those ducts and be blown around the home affecting allergies and get blown onto carpet and couches making the home dirty and dusky. The best thing to do is have the ducts cleaned once a year to ensure top function. Call us today to schedule!
