What to do in case of a flash flood

In the midst of storm season there is always a possibility of flash flooding. This can happen from a hurricane or large amounts of rain, among the possibilities. We would like to tell you some of the do's and don'ts of this situation.
Lets start with the do's of a flash flood.
DO shut off the water as soon as possible to avoid any further flooding
DON'T use a vacuum cleaner to remove standing water
DO Turn the main electricity supply off as soon as possible
DON'T leave furniture on wet carpet - DO please small saucers underneath furniture legs to lift it off the wet surface
DO take photographic evidence of the damage caused to your premises
DON'T attempt any repair work or redecorating until everything has fully dried out
DO use buckets and towels to remove and mop up any standing water
DON'T use ordinary cleaning products to clean up flood water
DO open windows and doors to let the air circulate the room and dry it out
